Lately I have been pondering a lot on the topic of choice. That is, making choices and how much power we really have each time we make a choice in our lives either consciously or unconsciously. Even when we decide to take no action, that in and of itself is a choice and thus has an effect on our life.

What I am learning is that every choice we make takes us down a path of results and effects of that choice. In essence, making choices is what makes us creators of our reality. When we are afraid to make choices, or afraid of making the wrong choices, what we are really telling ourself is that we are afraid of creating. Wow–that is profound when you really examine that thought. If making choices, excersising our “free will”, is the agent of creation, then we are ALWAYS creating by the power of the choices we make. And every result of our choices is the manifestation or the creation. Think about that for a moment.

If we look around and find that we don’t like what we see in our lives, then it makes sense to assume we must start making different choices! I believe this is true with regards to everything we think, feel, and do. And mostly what I have found is that everything really begins with our thinking.

Thoughts and the feelings associated with them are huge when it comes to the types of choices we make in our lives. Not only do our thoughts and feelings guide us in choosing our partners, our careers, and our friends, but more importantly our thoughts and feelings guide our habits—our behavior habits as well as our thought habits. While we can certainly make different choices in all our wordly actions, it also goes to say that we are even more empowered when we begin to make different choices in the way we think and feel.

We literally have the power of choice in EVERY moment, and EVERY situation no matter how difficult it may seem at the time. In every moment we can choose to be depressed, sad or victimized, or we can make a different CHOICE and take actions to refrain from these negative patterns. We can redirect our thoughts to CHOOSE joy, happiness and peace. My point here is that Joy is a CHOICE and pain is also a CHOICE.

It is not until we realize this fully that we begin to reclaim our personal power and freedom. And I am not saying that this is necessarily easy to do, at least not at first, but it also does not have to be hard to do either.

One must only begin by bringing an awareness to each moment. I suggest starting with the moments where you feel especially challenged, or when your buttons are pushed the most. These are the easiest places to start because our emotions are usually very obvious during these times.

Once we begin to master the art of “noticing” what direction our thougths are moving in at an emotionally challenging time, then we can begin the profound work of redirecting them by the power of CHOICE.

Through this practice we soon gain accesss to the subtler levels of awareness necessary to truly begin to make drastic changes in our lives. And once we reach theses subtle levels we then begin to truly understand the power we have as creators of our own experience and ultimately as creators of our own reality.

Overview

Our abilitiy to make choices is what makes us creators
Fear of making choices is really a fear of creating
Joy is a choice, pain is also a choice
Learn to master the art of “noticing”
If you don’t like what you are experiencing in your life, begin by making different choices in the way you think and feel.

I invite you to ponder the power of choice in your own life. Enjoy the journey!

Blessings,

Morgan

Lately my experiences in my private practice has given new meaning to the term “It’s all in your head”. I have had many clients presenting with problems, well quite literally, in their head. Severe and chronic headaches, water on the brain, unidentified pain on one side of the temple, just to name a few. The strange thing is that I have found, when dealt with intuitively, this pain in the head appears to be related to misdirected sadnes and even deep greif.

What I have been shown is that in an effort to “not feel and not deal” with the painful and sometimes traumatic emotion of sadness, the individual has literally shifted the emotional energy of sadness out and away from the heart chakra and up in to the head. The result is the temporary avoidance of having to feel the emotion, however the long term effect of this survival pattern can lead to a host of other problems manifesting in the brain and its surroundings.

As I am often heard to say, “The only way out of hell is through”, it is true for this problem as well. To deal with these issues the individual must be gently worked with and taught that it is safe to bring that misdirected energy back down and through and out of the heart chakra—the emotional energy of sadness must be processed and transformed through the proper energy center. The emotions must be experienced adequately, transformed, and finally released for good. Like the physical experience of giving birth, healing requiresthat we go through the emotional experience so that we can give rise to something fresh, new, and whole. Like in childbirth, the only way out is through….

I have noticed too that some clients are afraid that if they allow themselves to process the grief, then they fear that the sadness will overtake them, that if they feel this deep emotion then they will become stuck in depression, and this is all they will ever know. It is necessary to gently work wtih this fear as well, a client must be taught through belief work that it is safe to feel and experience all their emotions, that they give themselves permission to do so, and that the can do so without becoming overwhelmed by them, and that joy is possible.

As in all healing work, this must be done with great love, compassion and non-judgement. And even so, some will not yet be ready and the healer must respect that. And for those who are ready, the rewards are great.

One of my mentors recently introduced me to a new concept: instead of seeking the Truth, try being the Truth, let Truth be something you bring to a situation.

WOW! What a nice way of looking at things. I have always considered myself a seeker of the Truth but this new perspective is a far greater way of impacting our life and world. When we seek after Truth we are always seeking, Truth is elusive–what is truth and whose do you seek?

While I do believe in a higher universal “Truth” as opposed to our indiviudal “truth”, this manner of being Truth rather than seeking after it has a far greater impact on the world.

Think about it—Truth a state of being, a way of life. Truth being something you ARE, that which you bring into a situation. BE the TRUTH. We can never know the motives of others fully and completely, but we can always know our own and we can always create more positive outcomes by living in this way as a way of life and a state of being.

So try it, be the Truth in all things and in all situations. Let Truth and honesty be what you bring to the table even in the midst of great obfuscation. Even in the midst of dishonesty and betrayal there is always a choice to be the light, to bring Truth by who we are being in the moment.

Truth as a state of being, a state of presence, the gift that we bring to all circumstances and situations.

Submitted by guest blogger Melanie Bowen

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is one of a developing suite of holistic tools that harness the power of the meridian system. This meridian system is the same one used in acupuncture and has been used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. These tools integrate very well with other holistic therapies such as Healing Touch and Intuitive Bodywork. The combination of these gentle, user-friendly tools can really soften the effects of traditional forms of cancer treatment such as chemotherapy and radiation. The addition of these holistic tools can ultimately enhance the healing effects of traditional, Western treatments.

Mesothelioma is a terminal form of cancer that most often affects the tissue in and around the lungs. It can be caused by exposure to asbestos. Mesothelioma life expectancy is 4 to 18 months, and facing a mesothelioma prognosis can be traumatic. Healing Touch, Intuitive Bodywork and especially EFT can help a patient with coping with their cancer diagnosis and processing all of the resultant emotions that can come up. Among these emotional reactions can be fear, anxiety, doubt and stress. Healing Touch, Intuitive Bodywork and EFT all have proven results in quieting and processing these difficult emotions, reducing stress and increasing quality of life throughout the treatment regimen.

Another way that these tools can be used is in getting to the roots of an illness, including cancer. It has been theorized that up to 95% of all illnesses have an emotional cause or causes. Often it is unresolved emotional trauma that plants the seed of an illness years before the illness manifests. EFT in particular, when used in a targeted way, can get at and sometimes resolve the emotional roots of an illness.

According to EFT practitioner Dena Przybyla’s article, “For many emotional issues, the negative feeling you are having is caused by a conditioned disruption in one or more of your meridians. Any stimulus which reminds you of a past trauma recreates the disruption in the present and leads to the negative feeling. The combination of tapping the meridian points while holding the negative thought in mind neutralizes the disruption in your meridians and subtle energy system, dissipating the negative feeling. You will still have the memory of the event but will no longer feel the negative emotion when you think of it. More complex issues are handled by tapping on each aspect of the original trauma one at a time, systematically, until the negative “charge” of the whole experience melts away. The energies that had been wrapped up in these memories (or repressing them) are then freed up to be channeled into more positive pursuits.”

Addressing painful emotions at their root while doing the EFT tapping protocol can have profound healing effects, even with aggressive forms of cancer.
